As Chucky fans wait for season three of the series to return with its last four episodes, Chucky creator Don Mancini is already thinking about the future. After a long time, it looks like a new Chucky movie is in the works, at least according to its franchise creator Don Mancini, who revealed that a new entry in the series is in its early stages in an episode of the Scream Dreams Podcast. The character would return in a series of movies again after ending the Chucky series once it’s over, although if there won’t be a fourth season of the series, a new CHUCKY movie will probably come out sooner than expected. But the fact that a new Chucky movie is in the early stages of development could mean that the Chucky series will not return for a fourth season.
Don Mancini recently went on the Scream Dreams podcast, which episode was released on March 27th, 2024, and is co-hosted by Barbara Crampton. In which he said” “I’m actually in the early stages of working on a new Chucky movie.” Even though he didn’t release anything else about the new movie, it’s worth remembering that he would send Chucky to space if “enough people want to see that.” We don’t know if that would make any sense and if it would be entertaining, but we can only hope that the new movie will be great.
The last time a Chucky movie was released was in 2019, when a remake hit theatres. The last movie that Don Mancini was involved in was Cult of Chucky, which was released in 2017. In a recent interview with DJ Suss One, he said: “I want to keep doing new movies, and, in fact, I’m in the early stages of starting to develop one now, which is designed to work in tandem with the TV show. You know, the ongoing attempt to try to conquer the universe with Chucky.”

The writer also teased that he even had an idea on how to make the concept happen, but he’d only go that route if there was a strong demand for that from fans. In fact, there aren’t any other news about a new Chucky movie. The only news we got is that a new Chucky movie is in the early stages of development by Don Mancini in the Scream Dreams podcast.
Chucky Season 4 Is Actually Still Possible
Don Mancini said that he hopes that both the TV series and new movie can work together, instead of the movie taking the place of a potential Season 4, and that more expansions could be on the way. “[The show and the movie working] in tandem is my hope. We’re hoping to get a Season 4 of the show. Fingers crossed,” Mancini confirmed to ScreenRant. “I pitched the idea already to the network, so we’re hoping on that, but I’m also in the early stages of developing a new movie now, and the movie is designed to work in tandem with the show. That’s what we hope in our dream of conquering the universe, is that we can keep expanding the Chucky-verse in this way. That’s my hope so we’ll see what happens.” So, a season 4 of the Chucky series could actually still happen as it has not yet been cancelled.
When Will The New Chucky Movie Get Released?
It’s currently too early to say when the new Chucky movie will be released, but estimates really depend on whether there’s going to be a fourth season of the Chucky series because if it does, it’s likely that Don Mancini will be busy making the fourth season of the series, and if that’s the case the movie will probably release sometime in late 2025 to early 2026, although if there’s not going to be a fourth season of the Chucky series, it’s very likely that Don Mancini will focus on the Chucky movie, meaning the movie will be done faster, although knowing Don Mancini and his plans, the most likely thing to happen is that Don Mancini is going to focus on making a fourth season and the new Chucky movie, which will then mean the movie will be release some time in 2025.
Who Is Going To Be In The New Chucky Movie?
It doesn’t matter if the Chucky series gets cancelled or not. The movie will most likely continue the story of the series, although if there’s going to be a fourth season of the Chucky series, it’s very likely that the movie will create some sort of secondary storyline. However, Don Mancini may go back to its original roots and create a new storyline. That has nothing to do with the show. If the movie has something to do with the Chucky series and somehow continues the story or has a related story to the series, then the characters from the show will probably back, which would include Alyvia Alyn Lind (Lexy), Zackary Arthur (Jake), Bjorgvin Arnarson (Devon), Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany), Alex Vincent (Andy) Fiona Dourif (Nica) & Carina Battrick (Caroline). Although if it does go back to its roots, which is unlikely given Don Mancini’s comments, then the old cast would probably be back, which would include Jennifer Tilly (Tiffany), Alex Vincent (Andy) & Fiona Dourif (Nica).
